Patriotism

Nowadays most of us are Global Citizens. We are Globetrotters. We travel around the circumference of Globe. Every country has its own personal touch. Every country's attitude, flavors, weather, political gimmicks, cozy places, rich history, proud culture lingers in our soul. The more we are away from homeland, the more we love it. But still, the chance to compare & contrast the patriotic feelings in different countries is really great.

I love india, my homeland. But I feel I miss Singapore, all the more. The most precious chapters of my Life were written in Singapore. My daughters crawled around, explored in walkers, learnt to walk, had their every bumps & falls, talked in gibberish language, had their first birthdays.........all in Singapore. Singapore reminds me of all baby stuff. It reminds me of tiny booties, floral bibs, flavored pacifiers, baby toys and all sweet things.....We are sentimentally attached to Singapore. Count on us Singapore !

Living in a Foreign Land

Living in a Foreign Land

You should be lucky enough to live in any foreign place, other than your birth-place. If you are a keen observer of events happening around you, then living in a new place can teach you loads and loads of History & Geography.

Unknowingly you get to know the details about the geographic location, climate, language, culture, customs etc…of your living foreign place. You get to learn pages and pages of facts explained in Geography book just hands-on, as a breeze, in a very few days.

The most common tendency is that, we take our birth-place for granted. We show the least interest to visit the tourist spots in our own city. But a new place kindles our interest to visit many adventurous locations. It just wakes up the “Explorer “hidden in each one of us.

In foreign land, we are out of our safe niche. This makes us feel alienated sometimes, so we keep our eyes and ears wide open. Put-in more data inside. Try our best to mingle and be one with the locals yet keep our identity distinct.

As far as, I am concerned, Singapore has taught me many new things. Now I know the location of Singapore and other neighboring countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Korea more accurately in the world map.

Learnt a lot about this Island City - its National flag, National flower, some history regarding its independence, clean politics, important inspiring national leaders etc…

I learnt many new English words like alighting, curb side, escalator, barbeque, sand castle, glider, rolling pin, malls, hand dryer, finger bowl, stroller, trolley, skimmed milk, peanut butter, margarine, marinate, hot dog, cock tail and many more…Of course, all these are very common, but earlier I never knew the exact term to refer to these or haven’t come cross such words.

We tend to read and hear news, just to keep an update on what is happening back-home. Thus, we know more of current affairs in general.

Happy that now I can understand the most common acronyms used here as HDB, MRT, LRT, PUB, PAP, PCF, RC, CC, PIE, AYE, ECP, ERP, JB, SCV, KFC, CHIJ etc..

Can understand the meaning behind their Singlish

  • Go where
  • Long time no see
  • Die ah
  • Blur Blur
  • Aiyah
  • Ya la
  • Then how
  • Crazy eh

So in a way, Blessed are the ones living out of their native place……..!!!

My lovely Singapore

My lovely Singapore

Singapore is a small red dot in the world map. It is a city capital. It is a country. It is heaven on earth. She makes even heaven envy at her beauty and elegance.

When one sets foot on Singapore at the Changi Airport, one can feel the warmth and hospitality. At the Changi Airport, the pin drop silence, speculatively clean arena, cordial people, busy minds, helping hands, clear cut information and ambient scenario would just baffle anybody.

The vast pleasant fresh greeneries further welcome everyone to the city. Roads. Every road is well maintained, has directing boards, margined with flora.

Singapore is a very safe and secure place to live in. It is a blend of globalization and true culture of kampong i.e., village in Malay. There are 3 ethic groups in this lion city: Chinese, Malays and Indians. So there is a fusion of cultures, food and dressings. Racial harmony prevails not only in words but also in true sense of brotherhood.

Singapore is a lucky child to get Sir Stamford Raffles and Lee Kuan Yew as its leaders. Though most of the people settled here are immigrants, government is smart enough to control the sprouting of racial and communal riots.

Singapore is ever-changing but ever young. She grew at a stead-fast rate only after her independence in 1965. Fortune favors the fittest. This adage promptly suits her. Once you are honest and hard-working, Singapore can put you in great heights. Hand in hand, never does she hesitate to control violence with stern hands.

Singapore usually thinks big and attains unreachable limits in all fields. She is ready to learn from winners and embrace all foreign talents. So never worry about Singlish or your kiasu state lah….

Majulah Singapurah !!!
